
Professor Hans-Peter Brunner-La Rocca is Director of the Heart Failure Clinic and Chairman of Division of Structural Heart Diseases at Maastricht University Medical Centre, the Netherlands. He was previously Head of Heart Failure and Transplant Services in the cardiology department of the Basel University Hospital, Switzerland. He also served as Senior Cardiologist at the University Hospital of Zurich, Switzerland, where he co-chaired the heart failure research group.
Professor Brunner-La Rocca is a fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and European Heart Failure Association (HFA). He serves on the HFA Committee on Patient Care and is a board member of the heart failure working group of the Dutch Society of Cardiology.
His research interests focus on biomarker research, personalised medicine strategies in the treatment of chronic heart failure and defining care processes for patients with heart failure in primary and secondary care. Professor Brunner-La Rocca has authored more than 215 peer-reviewed original publications and serves on the editorial board of the European Heart Journal. His editorial positions include Associate Editor of the European Association for Predictive, Preventive and Personalised Medicine (EPMA) journal and Academic Editor for PLOS One. He also contributes as a reviewer for the journals Circulation, European Journal of Heart Failure, Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC), JACC Heart Failure and The Lancet.
