RA-ILD RISK CALCULATOR:
RA-ILD represents an unmet diagnostic clinical need. Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is one of the most common and severe extra-articular manifestations of rheumatoid arthritis (RA)1-4
RA patients experience ILD within 5-10 years of disease progression1-7
ILD is 2nd leading cause of premature death in RA, after cardiovascular complications1-4,8
There are currently no recommendations on ILD screening in either the initial assessment or in the follow-up of RA patients.
The RA-EPIDSER expert consensus group consisting of 18 expert panelists including 9 pulmonologists and 9 rheumatologists proposed a RA-ILD risk scoring with selective screening criteria and a screening algorithm, including recommendations for complementary tests to be carried out in the different clinical scenarios.
The RA-ILD risk calculator provides a common strategy between rheumatologists and pulmonologists to improve the early diagnosis and quality of life of patients with RA-ILD and aid in clinical decision making.9
