Jardiance® & Hartfalen

Jardiance® wordt gebruikt om hartfalen te behandelen bij volwassen patiënten die klachten ervaren door een zwakke pomp­functie van het hart. Bij hartfalen werkt het hart minder goed. Het hart kan minder goed bloed pompen naar de longen en de rest van het lichaam.

Jardiance® is een SGLT2-remmer (natriumglucose-cotransporter 2 remmer). De werkzame stof is empagliflozine. Jardiance® verhoogt de uitscheiding van glucose in de nieren; een deel van de glucose wordt uitgeplast.  Jardiance® helpt het lichaam ook om natrium te verwijderen. Hierdoor daalt de bloeddruk en kan het hart gemakkelijker bloed rondpompen.

Jardiance beschermt patiënten met hartfalen door het risico op CV-sterfte of hospitalisatie ongeacht ejectiefractie te verlagen.1 2

Jardiance verlaagt ook het risico op CV-events bij patiënten met diabetes type 23 en verlaagt het risico op CV-sterfte of progressie van nierschade bij patiënten met chronische nierschade4
